About Education

Narrabeen Beach SLSC has a long tradition of excellence in training and education.

Bronzeys April 2015

We have a dedicated and skilled pool of qualified instructors ensuring that candidates receive a high standard of training both in the classroom and on the beach.

Our dedicated trainers and assessors help members attain over 40 new lifesaving awards during Season 2016-17, including new Bronze Medallion holders – building a platform for future service.

All members wishing to become surf lifesavers must complete their training for the Surf Life Saving Australia Bronze Medallion (Certificate II in Public Safety – Aquatic Rescue).

The Bronze Medallion is a Nationally Recognised Qualification and teaches a range of activities in order to be able to perform all the basic requirements of a lifesaver:

• Beach types

• Wave patterns

• Currents

• Resuscitation

• First aid

• Communication techniques

• Radio communications

• Patrolling methods

• Occupational Health and Safety

Narrabeen Beach SLSC also offers additional training to its active members which assist with patrolling operations:
• IRB Driver

• IRB Crew

• Spinal Management

• Surf Rescue Certificate

• Radio Operators
