Club History and 50th Anniversary Year
Narrabeen Beach Surf Lifesaving History
Narrabeen Beach SLSC is located in Lions Park at the junction of Albert Road & Ocean Street, Narrabeen. The club officially commenced in July 1964, although there is evidence that some form of rescue service has operated from the same approximate area since the early 1900s.
The original clubhouse was an old timber cottage, however after substantial alterations, renovations & extensions, Narrabeen Beach now boasts one of the most magnificent & modern facilities on Sydney’s northern beaches.
The 50th Anniversary of the founding of Narrabeen Beach SLSC was officially 12th July 2014.
The 50th Anniversary Committee included the following: Club President Tracey Lake, Wayne Schwebel, Claire McManaway, David Cook, Terry Childs, and Deidre McAlinden.
Historical information was provided by various Members past and present, to enable a full updated booklet covering Narrabeen Beach SLSC past 50 years. Huge Thanks to Deidre McAlinden for her many, many hours spent collating the full history of Narrabeen Beach SLSC, and documenting all accounts over the past five decades.
Thanks to Pete Wells ( MC for the evening and film producer extraordinnaire) and Lise Kristiansen for their major contribution to the various films we saw during the night which were stunning. Also Thanks to Greg Gillespie for all photographic framing contributions.
Many Thanks to all who assisted and spent many, many hours on this exciting event.
